Hello, lovely readers!
So, here I am—hurtling towards the big 5-0 with a busy schedule, kids, cats, and a husband who STILL can’t remember which bin goes out on which day. Life is full, life is chaotic, and let’s be honest, life is a bit of a whirlwind. But guess what? It’s never too late to squeeze in some bucket-list brilliance before we hit that half-century milestone. So, inspired by a bestie who is doing 50 amazing things this year to mark her 50th too, I thought I’d put together a little list of 50 things to do before you’re 50!
Whether you’re in the same boat or just fancy a bit of inspiration, here’s my guide to 50 things to do before you’re 50. Spoiler: It’s totally UK-friendly, budget-conscious, and designed for busy women like us who are juggling it all and still want a slice of adventure.
1–10: Little Adventures That Make Life Sparkle
Visit a city you’ve never been to. Edinburgh? Bath? Belfast? Pop it in the diary!
Go on a solo trip. Even if it’s just a night in a cosy B&B, rediscover YOU.
Host a themed dinner party. Mexican fiesta? French chic? Dust off the dining table and go wild.
Try karaoke. Yes, even if it’s just at home with the kids on YouTube.
Watch the sunrise. Preferably with a hot cuppa and no interruptions.
Cook or bake something that scares you. Croissants, soufflé, or something French and fancy.
Go wild swimming. (Or paddling. Same vibe, less hypothermia.)
Take a scenic train ride. The Settle-Carlisle line is stunning!
Volunteer your time. Food banks, schools, or even helping a neighbour—it feels so good.
Walk a bit of a famous trail. The Cotswold Way or the South West Coast Path, anyone?

11–20: Moments for You
Reconnect with an old friend. A proper chat over coffee (or cocktails).
Write a letter to your future self. Seal it and open it on your 60th birthday!
Spend a day reading. Forget the housework and indulge in uninterrupted literary bliss.
Try a new hobby. Painting, pottery, paddleboarding—it’s your time to play.
Dance like no one’s watching. Living room disco, anyone?
Declutter your wardrobe. Make space for clothes you actually love.
Go zip-lining. It’s exhilarating (and you’ll earn serious mum points).
Plan a weekend getaway with friends. Laughter, wine, and zero kids = bliss.
Plant something. Herbs, flowers, or a whole veggie patch—it’s oddly therapeutic.
Learn something new. A language? A skill? YouTube tutorials are your friend.

21–30: For the Family (and Pets!)
Have a family movie marathon. Popcorn, blankets, and no phones allowed.
Take professional family photos. You’ll thank yourself later.
Make a memory jar. Fill it with notes of funny moments and open it at Christmas.
Go camping. Even if it’s just in the garden!
Teach the kids a life skill. Cooking, sewing, or even ironing (wishful thinking?).
Take the family to a National Trust spot. So many castles, so little time.
Build a fort with the kids. Yes, you’re never too old for this.
Do a family challenge. A 5k walk, a puzzle marathon—anything fun and bonding.
Adopt a rescue animal. If you can handle more chaos, why not?
Create a family scrapbook. Photos, tickets, and doodles galore.

31–40: Treat Yourself!
Book a spa day. (And actually relax. No peeking at your phone.)
Buy the fancy skincare. You’re worth it, darling.
Splurge on a pair of fabulous shoes. Practicality is overrated.
Get a makeover. Hair, makeup, or a style refresh—go for it!
Indulge in a fancy afternoon tea. Scones and champagne, please.
Watch a West End show. Matilda? Wicked? Whatever you fancy!
Treat yourself to fresh flowers every week for a month. Small joys, big impact.
Upgrade your bedding. Nothing beats the luxury of hotel-quality sheets.
Spend a day doing NOTHING. Permission granted to loaf.
Have a proper date night. Dress up, go out, and leave the kids behind.

41–50: The Big Dreams
Take a hot air balloon ride. Look out for deals—worth every penny.
Visit a natural wonder. The Giant’s Causeway is closer than you think!
Run (or walk) a 5k. Parkrun is free and so welcoming.
Travel to a European city you’ve never seen. Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon—what’s calling you?
Celebrate a milestone with something epic. A big party or a quiet retreat—your choice.
Write a short story or poem. Let your creativity flow!
Take a digital detox for a weekend. No screens, no stress.
Start a diary/journal. Reflect on the past, dream about the future.
Be brave and try something totally new. A new job, a bold look, or something outrageous.
Throw an unforgettable 50th birthday party. Because you, my dear, deserve it.

Phew! That’s the list. The truth is, life doesn’t end at 50—it just gets better. These aren’t just “things to do” but moments to cherish, memories to make, and experiences to fill your cup.
Which ones are you adding to your list? Let me know over here —especially if karaoke makes the cut!
Much love,
Becky xx
