Shoes can make or break an outfit, so here are what I believe are some of the footwear essentials in any woman’s wardrobe over 40:

  • Black ankle boots: Black ankle boots are a versatile staple that can be dressed up or down. They can be worn with jeans, skirts, dresses, and trousers, and they come in a variety of styles, from flat to heeled.
  • Neutral ballet pumps: Ballet pumps are another must-have for their comfort and versatility. They can be worn for work, errands, or casual outings. Choose a pair in a neutral color, such as black, nude, or tan, to get the most wear out of them.
  • Knee-high boots: Knee-high boots add a touch of elegance to any outfit. They can be worn with skirts, dresses, or jeans, and they come in a variety of materials, such as leather, suede, and faux fur.
  • Strappy sandals: Strappy sandals are a must-have for summer. They can be dressed up or down, and they come in a variety of styles, from flat to heeled.
  • Athletic trainers/sneakers: Athletic trainers/sneakers are essential for running, walking, and other workouts. They also make a great casual shoe for everyday wear.

In addition to these essentials, you may also want to consider investing in a pair of loafers, espadrilles, or wedges. These shoes can add variety to your wardrobe and be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

When choosing footwear, it is important to consider comfort and style. You want to choose shoes that you can walk in comfortably all day long, but you also want to choose shoes that look good with your outfits.

Here are some additional tips for choosing footwear for women over 40:

  • Choose shoes with good arch support. This will help to prevent foot pain and fatigue.
  • Avoid shoes with heels that are too high. Heels that are taller than 2.5 inches can put stress on your feet and ankles.
  • Choose shoes that fit well. Shoes that are too tight or too loose can be uncomfortable and lead to foot problems.
  • Invest in a few pairs of high-quality shoes that will last. It is better to have a few pairs of well-made shoes than a closet full of cheap shoes that will fall apart quickly.

With a little planning, you can easily create a footwear wardrobe that is both stylish and comfortable.

Take care, stay safe.
