My five and fifteen minute make-up routines

Now I know I’ve approached this theme before, and I don’t always wear makeup, but on the days that I do I thought it would be helpful to let you know what I do – especially when I’m in a hurry! So here’s my five and fifteen minute make-up routines for you.

5-Minute Makeup Routine

This routine is perfect for busy mornings or when you’re short on time. It only takes five minutes to complete and will give you a fresh, natural-looking look.

1. Prime your skin.

Applying a primer will help your makeup last longer and look smoother. Choose a primer that is suitable for your skin type. If you have oily skin, look for a mattifying primer. If you have dry skin, look for a hydrating primer.

2. Apply foundation.

If you have uneven skin tone, you may want to apply foundation to even it out. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and type. Apply it with a brush, sponge, or your fingers.

3. Conceal any blemishes.

Use a concealer to cover up any blemishes, dark circles, or redness. Choose a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation. Apply it with a small brush or your fingers.

4. Add some blush.

Blush will give your cheeks a healthy glow. Choose a blush that complements your skin tone. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks with a brush.

5. Apply mascara.

Mascara will open up your eyes and make them look more awake. Choose a mascara that is volumizing and lengthening. Apply it to your top and bottom lashes.

Optional:

  • Eyebrows: If you have sparse eyebrows, you can fill them in with a brow pencil or powder.
  • Eyeshadow: If you have time, you can apply a light eyeshadow to your eyelids.
  • Lips: You can finish your look with a lipstick, lip gloss, or lip balm.

Tips:

  • If you’re short on time, you can use a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation.
  • If you have oily skin, you can set your makeup with a translucent powder.
  • If you have dry skin, you can use a hydrating setting spray.

And that’s it! You can now walk out the door with a fresh, natural-looking makeup look in just five minutes.

15-Minute Makeup Routine

This routine is perfect for when you have a little more time to spend on your makeup, but you still don’t want to spend hours in front of the mirror. It will give you a more polished and finished look than the 5-minute routine, but it’s still quick and easy to do.

1. Prime your skin.

Just like in the 5-minute routine, priming your skin will help your makeup last longer and look smoother.

2. Apply foundation.

If you have uneven skin tone, you can apply foundation to even it out. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and type. You can apply it with a brush, sponge, or your fingers.

3. Conceal any blemishes.

Use a concealer to cover up any blemishes, dark circles, or redness. Choose a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation. Apply it with a small brush or your fingers.

4. Set your foundation and concealer.

Use a translucent powder to set your foundation and concealer. This will help them last longer and prevent them from creasing.

5. Contour and highlight your face.

Contouring and highlighting can help to define your features and give your face a more sculpted look. Use a bronzer to contour the hollows of your cheeks, under your jawline, and on the sides of your nose. Use a highlighter to highlight the tops of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and the brow bone.

6. Apply blush.

Blush will give your cheeks a healthy glow. Choose a blush that complements your skin tone. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks with a brush.

7. Apply eyeshadow.

You can use eyeshadow to create a variety of different looks, from natural to dramatic. If you’re short on time, you can simply apply a light eyeshadow to your eyelids. If you have more time, you can create a more elaborate look by using multiple eyeshadow shades.

8. Apply eyeliner.

Eyeliner can help to define your eyes and make them look bigger and brighter. You can use a liquid eyeliner, pencil eyeliner, or gel eyeliner. Apply it to your upper lash line, close to the base of your lashes.

9. Apply mascara.

Mascara will open up your eyes and make them look more awake. Choose a mascara that is volumizing and lengthening. Apply it to your top and bottom lashes.

10. Apply lipstick or lip gloss.

Finish your look with a lipstick or lip gloss. Choose a color that you like and that complements your skin tone and makeup look.

Tips:

  • If you have oily skin, you can use a mattifying foundation and primer.
  • If you have dry skin, you can use a hydrating foundation and primer.
  • If you’re not sure how to contour and highlight, there are many tutorials available online and on YouTube.
  • If you’re short on time, you can skip the eyeshadow and eyeliner steps.
  • If you want to add a little bit of extra glam to your look, you can apply false eyelashes.

This 15-minute makeup routine is perfect for everyday wear or for special occasions. It’s quick and easy to do, and it will give you a polished and finished look.
